Privacy policy

This privacy policy applies to this website, the mail services, and any other service we provide outside of the DN42 network.

What data do we collect and how do we collect it?

This website logs your IP address, your User Agent string, as well as the URL path you access. Beside that, the website does not collect any data, has no user tracking or analytics and sets no cookies.

We also collect any information you send us per E-Mail at one of our addresses on the domain @ano-org.sml.name, or any of our addresses listed in the DN42 registry. When you send E-Mails to @ano-org.sml.name, the IP address and/or hostname of your mail server are logged.

How will we use it?

The website logs are collected for diagnostic reasons and to detect, prevent or prove abuse. This may include metrics containing the clients IP address or geographic area.

The information you provide us per E-Mail and the E-Mail logs are collected for the purpose of peering, troubleshooting issues, or to handle the request in the E-Mail, whatever applicable. It is also processed for diagnostic reasons and to detect, prevent, or prove abuse. This may also include similar metrics as described for the webserver logs.

All processing is done on our servers or personal computers.

How do we store and protect it?

The website and E-Mail logs are stored on the respective server, and on our logging server, and are only accessible by our administrators. Technically, the provider of the VPSs can access the data on the servers without our knowledge, however we have processing agreements with them that forbid that, except where required by law.

• Web server: VPS in Logroño, Spain, provided by Mail Boxes Etc. AT0051 IONOS SE.
• Mail server: VPS in Vienna, Austria, provided by IPAX GmbH or on Web servers VPS.
• Logging server: hosted on the private servers of glueckself ("self-hosted"), located in Vienna, Austria and encrypted at rest.

The E-Mail is only temporarly stored on our mail server while waiting to be forwarded to the respective mail box of our administrators, where they are stored. For the mail boxes, their respecive privacy policy applies:

Who do we share it with?

We may share various data we store and process with any other DN42 members for help with an issue we cannot solve ourselves. In this case, we will try to minimize the amount of personal information shared, however especially technical data (IP addresses, hostnames, ...) may need to be shared to enable the other members to help us.

No data is provided voluntarily to any other entities, except as required by law.

How long do we keep it?

The logs and metrics are kept "live" on the servers for 24 hours, and on the logging server for 3 months. Backups and snapshots extend the duration to 3 days, and 6 months respective.

The E-Mails are kept indefinitely, as they are stored in our personal mailboxes.

What are your data protection rights?

We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

• The right to access: You have the right to request copies of your personal data.
• The right to rectification: You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request to complete the information you believe is incomplete.
• The right to erasure: You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
• The right to restrict processing: You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
• The right to object to processing: You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
• The right to data portability: You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
